Originally slated for a release in 2009, Eminem’s Relapse 2was scrapped yesterday when the emcee explained concisely via his Twitter account. “There is no Relapse 2.” Today, however, Eminem once again shed some light on what’s in store for the near future, simply Tweeting “RECOVERY.”

The news is detailed through a press release on Eminem’s site,

Eminem Scraps The Sequel: New Album, RECOVERY, Set For June 22nd Release — The much-anticipated new album from Eminem, Recovery (Aftermath/Interscope), will be released June 22, 2010, it was announced today by Interscope Records. On Recovery, his seventh major label studio album, Eminem has reached out to an exciting list of first-time collaborators, including DJ Khalil, Just Blaze, Jim Jonsin and Boi-1da, among others.

The press release adds a statement from Em himself which explains his decision to ditch Relapse 2 in favor of a new project, “I had originally planned for Relapse 2 to come out last year. But as I kept recording and working with new producers, the idea of a sequel to Relapse started to make less and less sense to me, and I wanted to make a completely new album. The music on Recovery came out very different from Relapse, and I think it deserves its own title.”

Thus far two tracks have been announced. In a recent interview with All Hip Hop the Alchemist revealed that there would be a song titled “Insult to Injury,” and D12’s Bizarre suggested that the group would be featured on the album with a track tentatively titled “Hit Me With Your Best Shot.” As previously mentioned, Recovery is set for a June 22 release.
